Sulphites and asthma sufferers

Sulphites are used as preservatives, they can release sulphur dioxide into the body, causing irritation and destruction. They preserve colour and inhibit the growth of bacteria and other micro-organisms.

Found in many foods and wines plus other alcoholic drinks.  Some people have adverse reactions especially those susceptible are asthma suffers. Symptoms can be – shortness of breath, diarrhoea, headaches and nausea.
